Watch out for

Powdery mildew: Improve air circulation and spray with a fungicide or bicarbonate solution at first sign.

Slugs and snails: Use iron phosphate pellets, beer traps, or hand-pick at night to control populations.

Root rot: Ensure well-draining soil and avoid waterlogging, especially in heavy clay or winter.

Vine weevil: Apply nematodes to the soil in autumn or use insecticidal drenches for potted plants.

Aphids: Squash by hand, blast with water, or apply insecticidal soap if infestations are heavy.
