Watch out for

Slugs and snails: Use physical barriers like copper tape or beer traps, and hand-pick pests at night.

Bacterial soft rot: Ensure well-drained soil and partially exposed rhizomes; cut away affected tissue with a disinfected knife.

Iris leaf spot: Remove and dispose of infected foliage at the end of the year to reduce overwintering spores.

Iris rust: Pick off lightly infected leaves to slow spread, but avoid removing too much foliage.

Aphid-borne viruses: Dispose of severely affected plants to prevent transmission to healthy neighbors.
