Watch out for

Root rot: Water only when the compost is completely dry and ensure pots have adequate drainage.

Mealybugs: Isolate the plant and treat with a systemic insecticide or dab spots with alcohol-soaked cotton.

Aphids: Spray affected areas with a recommended insecticide or use a strong jet of water to dislodge them.

Powdery mildew: Improve air circulation around plants and apply a suitable fungicide if infection is severe.

Overwatering: Allow the soil to dry out thoroughly between waterings and reduce frequency in winter.
