Watch out for

Root rot: Ensure excellent drainage with gritty compost and water only when the soil is completely dry.

Mealybugs: Isolate the plant and treat with a systemic insecticide or dab spots with alcohol-soaked cotton.

Aphids: Wash off with a strong jet of water or apply insecticidal soap if infestation is heavy.

Overwatering: Strictly withhold water during winter dormancy and ensure pots have adequate drainage holes.

Sunburn: Gradually acclimate plants to full sun and provide shade during peak summer heat if grown outdoors.
