Watch out for

Pear rust: Remove infected junipers or prune out cankers; avoid fungicides to protect biodiversity.

Apple and pear scab: Rake up fallen leaves in autumn and apply lime sulphur spray in winter.

Pear blister mite: No control is necessary as damage is cosmetic and does not affect tree health.

Fireblight: Prune out infected branches well below the visible damage during dry weather.

Brown rot: Remove all fallen and mummified fruit to reduce overwintering spore sources.
