Watch out for

Tar spot: Sweep up and dispose of fallen leaves to reduce spores; no chemical control is available.

Honey fungus: Improve drainage and avoid planting susceptible species in infected soil.

Horse chestnut scale: Scrape off scales by hand or use a horticultural oil spray in winter.
