Watch out for

Non-flowering: Ensure full sun, apply sulphate of potash in spring, and prune twice yearly to encourage spurs.

Powdery mildew: Improve air circulation by pruning and dispose of infected material promptly.

Vine weevil: Use nematode treatments in soil or physical barriers to prevent adult beetles from laying eggs.

Wisteria scale: Scrape off visible scales and apply horticultural oil during dormancy if infestation is severe.

Bud abortion: Water adequately during July to September when buds form and protect from sharp spring frosts.
